How To Wipe Out Oven After Self Cleaning

I was scared of using my self-cleaning oven.

But I was even more scared of someone seeing the inside of it.

When I created the Kitchen Cleaning Checklist final week, I knew it was time to have the leap and figure out how to apply a cocky-cleaning oven.

It was easy. Non magic, but easy. First of all, I would advise that you read over your oven'south instruction transmission. I had no thought where mine was, so I didn't. But I did remember my own mother using hers, and so I went for it.

Yes, it's a little scary. Yes, I warned my kids that the oven was cleaning itself and non to get too close.

Basically, information technology works like this: The oven gets crazy-hot and burns up all of the dirtiness. My oven, my female parent'southward oven, and I would hope ALL ovens . . . crave that the oven is locked in order for the cleaning feature to be used. Information technology so stays locked (it won't LET y'all unlock information technology) until it has cooled downward after cleaning. (I learned from you in the comments that I should have removed the racks before cleaning!)

After iii hours on the clean cycle, and about 45 minutes of cooling fourth dimension, information technology looked like this:

BIG difference. But non quite done.

After information technology was cooled completely (FINE, after a few days . . . ), I used an egg-turner to move all the ashes together so wiped out the oven.

Very petty attempt is required. I just turned on the clean feature, locked it and three hours later on information technology was done.

Oven Cleaner is known for beingness one of the about horrible chemic cleaners out there. Using the self-cleaning characteristic meant I didn't have to employ any chemicals.

Although I rarely idea nigh the state of my oven unless a guest used it . . . I'm amazed at how hitting the deviation is.

The bad:

That kind of heat is scary. I probably wouldn't want to exit the house while information technology was going. (And again, read your pedagogy manual!)

Although there isn't a chemical smell, you lot can definitely aroma the called-for off of the what-used-to-be-food. Might exist difficult for someone with animate issues.

Daily in December daily checklist update: It's Tuesday and I was gone ALL twenty-four hours. I didn't feel like doing Whatsoever of my checklist tonight, but did clean the kitchen, showtime the dishwasher, swept the kitchen, checked bathrooms for clutter, closed the chiffonier door and did a mini-choice-up. Mini is in comparison to a 5 minute one, so not much.
